Bar at 53 Christopher Street, in Greenwich Village. In June 1969 the Stonewall riots took place there, a response to police raids that is regarded as the starting point of the modern LGBT rights movement. Today it is still a working bar and is part of the Stonewall National Monument, which includes the park opposite the venue.
