Museum of 20th- and 21st-century American art founded in 1930 by the sculptor and patron Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. Since 2015 it has occupied the building designed by Renzo Piano in the Meatpacking District, next to the southern end of the High Line. Its stepped outdoor terraces look out over the Hudson River and the Manhattan skyline.
