Mount Ezcaba
Mount Ezcaba, also known as Mount San Cristóbal, is a mountain ridge 895 metres high north of Pamplona. On its slopes there are remains of old quarries and vegetation of Portuguese oaks and reforestation pines. On the summit stands the Fort of San Cristóbal, built in the late 19th century and used as a political prison between 1934 and 1945, the scene of a mass escape in 1938. The mountain has numerous waymarked trails that allow you to cover its full length, and every autumn the Marcha Popular a San Cristóbal-Ezkaba, organised by the S.C.D.R. Anaitasuna, takes place. It is a natural area much frequented by people from Pamplona for recreation and hiking.
