Togate Statue of Pompelo
The Togate Statue of Pompelo is a Roman bronze sculpture 127 cm high, dated to the mid-2nd century AD. It represents a figure in a toga, possibly a magistrate, with an uncommon ritual attribute (an aspergillum) in the right hand. It was found in 1895 on Calle de la Navarrería in Pamplona, near the Roman forum, and after a long journey through private collections it returned to Pamplona in 2022 on a long-term loan. It is the first bronze togatus discovered and one of the thirteen preserved in the world, which makes it an exceptional piece. It can currently be visited in Pamplona, where it is on public display.
