Square in the Malasaña district commemorating the uprising of 2 May 1808 against the French troops. It occupies the site of the former Monteleón artillery park, of which the entrance arch survives, and in the centre stands the monument to captains Daoíz and Velarde. Today it is one of the best-known meeting points in Malasaña, with terraces and bars around it.
