Collection of the Russian Museum Saint Petersburg Málaga
Exhibition hall housed in the building of the former Royal Tobacco Factory of Málaga, built between 1923 and 1927 in the Regionalist style, with exposed-brick façades, tilework and ceramic finials. It opened on 25 March 2015 as the first European branch of the State Russian Museum of Saint Petersburg, with works on temporary loan. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the original collection returned to Russia in May of that year; since then, Málaga City Council has kept the space open with temporary exhibitions lent by private collectors and other institutions, keeping the name and the building. The ground floor of the same building houses the Automobile and Fashion Museum, with a separate entrance. Since 2024 the permanent exhibition Beyond Its Time (Más allá de su tiempo) can be seen, devoted to different periods and movements of Russian art preserved by the institution.
