Old Town Hall, Prague (Staroměstská radnice, with the astronomical clock)
This is the oldest municipal building in Prague, founded in 1338, on Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí). Its core is a Gothic house from the late 13th century to which others were gradually added, so that Romanesque foundations, a Gothic tower, Renaissance windows and Baroque elements sit side by side. The tower is 69.5 metres tall and was completed in 1364. On its façade is the astronomical clock, built in 1410 by Mikuláš of Kadaň: every hour, between 8:00 and 23:00, the twelve apostles parade past with their attributes, and the dial also tells Babylonian time. The building was damaged during the Prague uprising of 1945. The visit includes the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, the ceremonial halls and the Romanesque-Gothic underground vaults, as well as access to the tower, which has a lift.
