Monument to Christopher Columbus
The monument stands on Paseo de Catalina de Ribera and consists of a base and two stone columns reaching 23 metres in height. Between the columns are two bronze caravel prows, accompanied by plaques bearing the names of Isabella and Ferdinand, while the base has marble medallions with the bust of Columbus and the coat of arms of the Catholic Monarchs. At the top, a lion holding an orb crowns the ensemble, and the whole monument sits on the circular basin of a fountain.
