Kabuki-za
Kabuki-za, in the Ginza district, is Tokyo's leading theatre for the traditional kabuki dramatic form. Performances are staged exclusively by Shochiku and take place almost daily, with tickets sold both for individual acts and for entire plays. The programme is arranged monthly: each month features one set of plays and dances for the afternoon performance and a different set for the evening one, repeated almost daily over three or four weeks. Inside, following the latest reconstruction, the theatre has four front curtains called doncho, created by Japanese artists in the Nihonga style and reflecting the different seasons.
