The Royal Opera House, Mumbai, is the only royal opera house remaining in India, built with a mix of European and Indian architectural styles and decorated with Italian marble and crystal chandeliers donated by the Sassoon family. Inside, visitors will find an auditorium with rows of boxes and acoustics designed so that sound reaches every seat clearly, as well as a dome divided into eight segments paying tribute to figures from literature and art. Throughout its history, the theatre has hosted operas, concerts, film premieres, magic shows, fashion shows and performances by artists such as Lata Mangeshkar and Prithviraj Kapoor.
