Banganga Tank
Banganga Tank is an ancient rectangular tank surrounded by steps on all four sides, located within the Walkeshwar Temple complex in the Malabar Hill area of Mumbai. According to local legend, the tank appeared when Lakshmana, Rama's brother, shot an arrow into the ground to find water while searching for Sita, creating a tributary of the Ganges. In November, during the Dev Diwali festival, visitors can watch crowds lighting oil lamps (diyas) around the tank, accompanied by spiritual chants and dances. Nearby are temples, samadhis of spiritual teachers and a Hindu crematorium, reinforcing the site's religious and cultural character.
