Belfast City Hall

Belfast City Hall, located on Donegall Square, stands out for its Baroque Revival architecture with towers at each corner and a central copper dome, 53 metres high and topped with a lantern. Inside, visitors will find spaces such as the Porte-cochère, the Grand Staircase, the Reception Room and the Banqueting Hall, decorated with Carrara, Pavonazzo and Brescia marble, as well as stained-glass windows depicting Belfast's coat of arms, portraits of Queen Victoria and William III, and tributes to military divisions and historic battles. Visitors can view a permanent exhibition and book guided tours giving access to areas normally closed to the public. In the building's grounds stand several monuments, such as the one dedicated to Sir Edward Harland, the statue of Queen Victoria, the Titanic Memorial, the Garden of Remembrance and Cenotaph, and recent statues of historical figures such as Mary Ann McCracken and Winifred Carney.
