St Mary's Hospital
St Mary's Hospital, founded in 1845, is a teaching hospital in Paddington, London. Its main attraction for visitors is the museum dedicated to Alexander Fleming, housed in his restored laboratory, which displays information about the discovery of penicillin in 1928. The original building was designed by Thomas Hopper in a classical style and opened in 1851. The Clarence Memorial Wing, designed by William Emerson, opened in 1904. The hospital is also known for its Lindo Wing, where members of the royal family and celebrities have been born. It is one of London's four major trauma centres.
