Site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China
In this shikumen house in Xintiandi the founding congress of the Communist Party of China was held in July 1921. You can visit the meeting room, furnished as it was then, and an adjoining museum, expanded with a new building in 2021, which tells the history of the party with documents, photographs and objects of the period. It is also a good example of the shikumen houses that gave character to the former French Concession.
