Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai
The Memorial Hall of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea occupies a 1925 building in Shanghai that served as the seat of that government in exile between 1926 and 1932. The museum, spread over three floors, recreates the facilities used by members of the provisional government and presents exhibits and explanations of its history. The building was declared a cultural relic and restored by the local government, Korea's Independence Hall and Samsung C&T, opening to the public in 1993 and being renovated in 2001. Between 1993 and 2015 it received more than three million Korean visitors, making it an important site of memory for the Korean community and for those interested in the history of the Korean exile in China.
