Inside Leipzig's Old Town Hall, visitors can tour the great ceremonial hall, the council chamber, the Late Baroque landscape room, the treasury, and see the only authentic portrait of Johann Sebastian Bach, painted by Elias Gottlob Haussmann. The building stands out for its Saxon Renaissance architecture, with an elongated structure, a sloping roof and details such as an octagonal staircase tower next to the main portal, Ionic columns and carved heads representing the master builders. During the visit, you can see historic features such as stone oriel windows, ornamental fountains, commemorative plaques and a mullion dated 1230, as well as access a passage linking the main market square with the Naschmarkt.
