Church of Saint-Augustin

The Church of Saint-Augustin, built by Victor Baltard between 1860 and 1871, is notable for its fully exposed cast-iron metal structure, integrated into the decoration alongside the stonework. Inside, the cast-iron columns and ribs are left visible and decorated with polychrome angels, and the open nave is covered by a dome more than 60 metres high. The façade features the four evangelists above arcades, the twelve apostles above them, and a rose window, while the stained-glass windows depict bishops and martyrs of the early centuries. The church preserves a chapel dedicated to Charles de Foucauld, with the confessional where he returned to the Catholic Church, and holds paintings by Bouguereau, Flandrin, Signol and Denuelle, as well as sculptures by Carrier-Belleuse and Chapu.
