The Museum of Fine Arts of Murcia (MUBAM) occupies a historic building opened in 1910 on the site of the former Convent of the Trinity, in the Santa Eulalia district. Its permanent collection is displayed in the Cerdán Pavilion, spread across eight rooms spanning five centuries of art, from 16th-century Renaissance painting to 19th-century Regionalism. Highlights include works by Murillo, Zurbarán, Ribera, Valdés Leal, Sorolla and Romero de Torres, alongside a broad representation of Murcian artists such as Pedro de Orrente, Rafael Tegeo and Inocencio Medina Vera. The visit also takes in the Gabinete, with plans of the Huerta de Murcia, 18th-century ceramics and engravings by Piranesi, as well as sketches for the ceiling of the Romea Theatre. The museum also has the Contraste Pavilion, used for temporary exhibitions and as a documentation centre. Admission is free and the building is wheelchair accessible.
