Home of the Vienna Society of Friends of Music, opened in 1870 to a design by Theophil Hansen in the historicist style. Its Great Hall, the so-called Golden Hall, is famous for its acoustics and is the home of the Vienna Philharmonic and the setting of the New Year's Concert broadcast around the world. It is next to Karlsplatz, near the Opera.
