Stadtpark

Vienna's Stadtpark is an extensive urban park crossed by the Wien River, where visitors can follow paved paths through gardens, artificial ponds and a varied collection of trees and shrubs, some protected for their rarity. Throughout the park stand numerous monuments and busts dedicated to celebrated figures of Viennese music and art, such as Johann Strauss II, Franz Schubert and Anton Bruckner, most notably the famous golden statue of Strauss playing the violin beneath a marble arch. The Kursalon, an Italian Renaissance-style building with a terrace facing the park, hosts waltz concerts and other musical events, continuing the tradition begun by the Strauss brothers. In the southern area, the Kinderpark offers a children's play area, while visitors can watch waterfowl and fish in the ponds or rest on the benches lining the paths.
