Mumok (Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien) is a museum of modern and contemporary art located in Vienna's Museumsquartier. Opened at its current site in 2001, the building is a cube-shaped basalt structure designed by Ortner & Ortner, with 4,800 m² of exhibition space across six floors. Its collection numbers more than 10,000 works and includes pieces by artists such as Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, Joseph Beuys, Nam June Paik, Gerhard Richter, Jasper Johns and Roy Lichtenstein. The museum is especially known for its extensive collection of Viennese Actionism and for its temporary exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. Visitors can explore the permanent collection, spanning from classic modernism to contemporary art with an emphasis on photography, video and film, as well as the special exhibitions held regularly.
