The Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre-Real Casa de la Moneda is a Spanish public body based in Madrid, at Calle Doctor Esquerdo 36, where the Museo Casa de la Moneda is located. The museum occupies seventeen permanent galleries displaying the history of currency through collections of numismatics, philately and pre-philately, lottery and games, a historical library, banknotes and examples of the equipment used to produce them. The collection dates back to the 18th century, linked to Tomás Francisco Prieto, Chief Engraver of the Mints of Charles III and founder of the Engraving School in 1771. The FNMT-RCM's Madrid headquarters was inaugurated on 11 July 1961 on Calle Jorge Juan 106, although the museum and the Fundación Casa de la Moneda are located at Calle Doctor Esquerdo 36. The organisation also produces coins, banknotes, stamps and official documents, and offers digital certification services.
