Forum of Augustus
CultureVisit: ~30 min
Imperial forum built by Augustus to house the temple of Mars Ultor, vowed at the Battle of Philippi (42 BC) and inaugurated in 2 BC. You can see part of the temple's colonnade, the high stone firewall that separated it from the neighbourhood, and the base of a large statue in the north portico. It lies beside Via dei Fori Imperiali, between the Forum of Trajan and that of Caesar.
