Île Barbe
Île Barbe is an island in the Saône River, in the 9th arrondissement of Lyon, reached by bus from Vaise station or from Place Bellecour, and also via a Vélo'v bike-share point. On it you can visit the northern part, which preserves the Romanesque church of Notre-Dame, the only remnant of a former monastery founded in the 5th century, as well as vestiges of ruined religious buildings. Visitors will also find a suspension bridge from 1827, the oldest in Lyon still in service, which connects the banks of the Saône. The island combines public areas with pétanque pitches, a large lawn and a children's playground, alongside old private houses and a restaurant. The walk takes in a riverside setting with a rich historical and monastic past.
