Museo dell'Opera Metropolitana del Duomo
The museum occupies a building on Piazza del Duomo and brings together works of art and architectural fragments that once belonged to Siena Cathedral. Highlights include Italian Gothic sculptures by Giovanni Pisano and his school from the façade of the Duomo, Duccio di Boninsegna's Maestà, which was the cathedral's altarpiece from around 1311 until 1505 or 1506, works by Ambrogio and Pietro Lorenzetti and Donatello's Madonna del Perdono (1457). It also holds works moved from other churches in the area, such as Duccio's Madonna brought from the Pieve di Santa Cecilia in Crevole, in the municipality of Murlo.
