Goodison Park
Goodison Park is a historic football stadium in the Walton district of Liverpool, two miles from the city centre. Opened in 1892, it was the first major football stadium built in England and the first purpose-built football stadium in the world. It has hosted more top-flight matches than any other stadium in the UK and staged a semi-final of the 1966 World Cup. It also hosted the 1894 FA Cup final and the 1910 final replay. The stadium was the first in England to have undersoil heating and the first to have two-tiered stands on all sides. In 2025, Everton's men's team moved to a new stadium, and Goodison Park became the home of Everton Women in the FA Women's Super League. Visitors can see the historic architecture, including the main stand designed by Archibald Leitch, and experience the atmosphere of a ground with more than a century of footballing history.
