Walker Art Gallery

At the Walker Art Gallery, visitors explore two floors filled with Italian and Dutch paintings from the 14th to 16th centuries, European art from the 16th to 19th centuries with works by Rembrandt, Poussin and Degas, and an outstanding collection of Victorian and Pre-Raphaelite British art. The gallery also holds sculpture, prints, drawings, watercolours and decorative arts ranging from Gothic ivories to contemporary British ceramics. Among the notable pieces on display is 'Cardinal Sin', a sculpture altered by Banksy, and Edgar Degas's sculpture 'La Masseuse'. In addition to its permanent collection, the gallery holds temporary exhibitions and hosts the John Moores Painting Prize, the UK's most important contemporary painting competition.
