Fethiye Mosque (Pammakaristos)
Former Byzantine church of the Theotokos Pammakaristos, built in the 12th century and extended in the 14th century with a side chapel decorated with mosaics around 1310. After the Ottoman conquest it was the seat of the Greek patriarchate and, from 1591, it was converted into a mosque (Fethiye, “of the conquest”). The chapel preserves mosaics such as the Christ Pantocrator in the dome, surrounded by prophets. It is in the Çarşamba district, on the Fatih hill, near Fener.
