Mount Tenpō
Mount Tenpō is the second-lowest mountain in Japan, with a summit just 4.53 metres above sea level. It stands in Minato-ku, Osaka, and its surface now forms Mount Tenpō Park, surrounded by a large embankment. In the park, next to the triangular summit, there is a stone monument commemorating Emperor Meiji's first naval military review in 1876, as well as several artworks depicting the area during the Edo period. The hill was created in 1831 from sediment dredged from the Ajigawa River and originally reached about 20 metres in height; later subsidence reduced it to its current size. The park also has a clock tower that was once a set from a Kansai Telecasting Corporation television programme and was later donated to the prefecture. The hill lies about 400 metres north of Ōsakakō Station on the Chūō line, and is close to facilities such as Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan and the Suntory Museum.
