Concrete tower about 187 metres tall, opened in 1961 on Gezira Island, shaped after a lotus flower. It is one of the modern symbols of the city. At the top is an observation platform with 360-degree views over the Nile, the centre, Zamalek and, on clear days, the Giza pyramids on the horizon.
