Schwules Museum
The Schwules Museum is a museum and research centre in Berlin dedicated to LGBTQ+ history and culture. Founded in 1985 as the world's first museum dedicated to gay history, it has been housed since 2013 in a former printing works at Lützowstraße 73, with more than 1,600 m² of exhibition space. The museum holds temporary exhibitions on historical and artistic themes, as well as a permanent exhibition running from 2004 to 2013 entitled 'Self-Confidence and Persistence: 200 Years of Gay History', covering the period from 1790 to 1990. Its archive preserves periodicals dating back to 1896, photographs, videos, posters and personal estates, while its library holds around 20,000 volumes on homosexuality. The museum also runs events, guided tours and educational activities.
