Albert Memorial

The Albert Memorial stands in Kensington Gardens, just north of the Royal Albert Hall, and consists of a 54-metre-tall neo-Gothic canopy housing a gilded statue of Prince Albert facing south. Visitors can view the Frieze of Parnassus that runs around the base of the monument, depicting 169 life-size sculptures of historical artists, grouped by discipline and national school. At the corners of the monument are sculptural groups symbolising agriculture, manufacturing, engineering and commerce, as well as figures representing the continents of Africa, Asia, Europe and America.
