Modern art museum located in Flamengo Park, facing Guanabara Bay. Its modernist building was designed by Affonso Eduardo Reidy and opened in the 1950s, with a large concrete overhang and wide open spaces. The surrounding gardens are the work of Roberto Burle Marx. A fire in 1978 destroyed much of its original collection.
