Barcelona Design Museum
The Museu del Disseny occupies a building opened in 2014 on Plaça de les Glòries, next to the Torre Glòries (formerly the Torre Agbar). It was designed by the MBM studio, made up of Oriol Martorell, Oriol Bohigas and David Mackay: a volume 14.5 metres above ground, cut at an angle and clad only in metal panels and glass, with another part buried underground. It brings together the collections of several earlier museums: decorative arts, textiles and clothing, and the graphic arts cabinet. The current permanent exhibitions include "Objectes comuns. Històries locals, debats globals", "Matter Matters. Dissenyar amb el món", "Dissenyes o treballes? La nova comunicació visual (1980-2003)" and "El cos vestit. Siluetes i moda (1550-2015)". The tour runs from the everyday object to visual communication and to the evolution of the silhouette in fashion over four centuries. It is in the Sant Martí district, at the end of Avinguda Diagonal.
