Main square of Bogotá, in the heart of the historic centre. In the middle is the statue of Simón Bolívar, the work of Pietro Tenerani, placed there in 1846. It is surrounded by the Catedral Primada, the National Capitol, the Palace of Justice and the Liévano Palace, seat of the mayor's office. It is the usual setting for official events and protests, and is full of pigeons and vendors.
