Inside, visitors find the National Museum of Modern Art, home to one of the largest collections of modern and contemporary art in the world, with works by artists such as Picasso, Miró, Brancusi, Modigliani, Matisse and Francis Bacon. The building also houses the Public Information Library, with capacity for thousands of people, and IRCAM, a centre dedicated to musical and acoustic research. In front of the museum lies the Place Georges Pompidou, an open space that is often a meeting point and stage for urban activities.
