Pedra da Gávea
NatureVisit: ~360 minFree
A granite monolith of about 842 metres that drops almost vertically to the sea, in Tijuca National Park, above São Conrado. The path up is long and steep, with rock-climbing sections; it is one of the most demanding hikes in Rio, and it is best to go with a guide and suitable footwear. From the top you can see São Conrado beach, the Pedra Bonita and much of the coast and the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon.
