Cathedral of Buenos Aires, on the north side of the Plaza de Mayo, with a neoclassical façade of twelve columns topped by a pediment dating from 1827. Inside is the mausoleum of General José de San Martín, guarded by grenadiers. Jorge Bergoglio was archbishop of this cathedral before being elected Pope Francis.
