A basilica next to the Colosseum that layers three historical levels: the present 12th-century church, an early Christian basilica from the 4th century beneath it and, further down, 1st-century Roman buildings with a Mithraeum. The upper level has apse mosaics and medieval frescoes. From the lower levels you can hear the sound of running water from an ancient underground channel.
