Zoological garden on the right bank of the Vistula, in the Praga district, opened in 1928. During the Second World War, its director Jan Żabiński and his wife Antonina hid Jews there, a story that inspired the book and the film The Zookeeper's Wife. Today it is one of Poland's major animal parks.
