The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) is the world's largest museum of applied and decorative arts and design, with a permanent collection of more than 2.8 million objects spanning 5,000 years of history. It occupies a 45,000 m² Victorian and Edwardian building with 145 galleries in South Kensington. Highlights of its collections include Italian Renaissance sculpture (the largest collection outside Italy), Raphael's Cartoons for the Sistine Chapel, the Cast Courts with a full-scale replica of Trajan's Column and Michelangelo's David, the Fashion Gallery with more than 14,000 garments, a jewellery collection of more than 3,000 pieces, and the arts of Asia and the Middle East, including the Ardabil Carpet. Admission to the permanent collection is free. The museum offers free guided tours, audio guides and events such as the monthly Friday Late.
