Cádiz Carnival Interpretation Centre
The Casa del Carnaval is the interpretation centre that Cádiz City Council dedicates to its most popular festival. It opened to the public in May 2023 on Calle Marqués del Real Tesoro, near the Central Market and a few steps from the Torre Tavira, in the old town. The permanent tour explains the history, art and satire of the Cádiz Carnival through group costumes, song lyrics and audiovisual material, with spaces devoted to street carnival and to the cantera, the children's and youth groups that keep the tradition alive. As well as a museum, it serves as a meeting point for workshops and activities related to the festival and houses the municipal Carnival school. It is a good complement for anyone visiting the city outside February who wants to understand why the Teatro Falla contest and the chirigotas carry so much weight in life in Cádiz.
