Institut Lumière
Cinema museum housed in the Villa Lumière, the Art Nouveau mansion that the Lumière family had built at the end of the 19th century in the Monplaisir district of Lyon. Antoine Lumière, father of Auguste and Louis, the inventors of the cinematograph in 1895, lived here. The museum reviews the origins of cinema and preserves apparatus of the period; next to the house is the hangar where “Workers Leaving the Lumière Factory” was filmed.
