Lyon Opera House
CultureVisit: ~60 min
Opera house of Lyon on Place de la Comédie, next to the city hall. The original neoclassical building dates from 1831, the work of Antoine-Marie Chenavard and Jean-Marie Pollet. Between 1989 and 1993 the architect Jean Nouvel rebuilt the interior and added a large semicylindrical vault of glass and steel, with a black interior. The 19th-century façade preserves the statues of the muses.
