Baroque building on the place des Terreaux, built in the mid-17th century to a design by Simon Maupin and remodelled after a fire by Jules Hardouin-Mansart. It is the seat of the municipal government and closes the square on one side, opposite Bartholdi's monumental fountain, by the same sculptor as the Statue of Liberty. On the other side of the square is the Museum of Fine Arts.
