Church of Santo Tomé
Church in Toledo's historic centre built on the site of an old 11th-century mosque, whose minaret was converted into a Mudéjar bell tower. Inside, with three naves, a transept and a polygonal apse, it keeps El Greco's The Burial of the Count of Orgaz, which is viewed by entering through the back of the church. The main chapel combines Mudéjar and Flamboyant Gothic elements, with a central eight-pointed dome with painted ribs. The chapels have Baroque and Plateresque altarpieces, a 16th-century baptismal font, a 12th-century marble image of the Virgin, and a 19th-century altarpiece with The Incredulity of St Thomas by Vicente López Portaña. The square-plan tower keeps glazed ceramics and a Visigothic marble niche plaque.
