Tránsito Synagogue
Former 14th-century Jewish temple built by Samuel ha-Levi, now home to the Sephardic Museum. Inside, the large rectangular prayer hall keeps a wooden coffered ceiling inlaid with ivory, polychrome plasterwork with plant, geometric and heraldic motifs, pointed horseshoe arches and inscriptions in Hebrew and Arabic; an upper-floor gallery, open through lattices, was reserved for women. The sober exterior contrasts with the rich interior decoration. The museum tour, with accessible tactile elements, presents the legacy of Hispano-Jewish and Sephardic culture.
