Iglesia del Sagrario
A parish church and sacramental chapel attached to the cathedral, built on the site of the former main mosque, which became a parish church in 1501. The present building was begun in 1705 by Francisco Hurtado Izquierdo and continued from 1717 by José de Bada, who simplified the original design. The vaults and crossing were finished in 1745 and it opened for worship in 1759. The plan is a Greek cross inscribed in a square, with a central dome on pilasters. The austere façade, in Sierra Elvira stone, has a single doorway and faces Plaza de Alonso Cano. Inside are a marble tabernacle by Bada, altarpieces by José de Mora and Pedro Tomás Valero, and a Renaissance baptismal font of 1520-1522 attributed to Francisco Florentín. There are also chapels such as that of El Pulgar, where Hernán Pérez del Pulgar is buried, and the Christ of the Good Death, now attributed to Bernabé de Gaviria. The crypt was an ossuary.
