An island about 270 metres long in the middle of the Tiber, linked to both banks by the Fabricius and Cestius bridges. It is home to the Fatebenefratelli hospital and the church of San Bartolomeo. It is considered one of the oldest sites in Rome and its shape resembles that of a ship. It lies between the Jewish Quarter and Trastevere.
