Santa Cecilia in Trastevere
A church in Trastevere dedicated to St Cecilia, patron saint of music, built over Roman houses and remodelled in the 9th century by Paschal I. On the high altar is the sculpture of the saint by Stefano Maderno (1600). The apse mosaic dates from the 9th century and, in the nuns' choir, a fresco of the Last Judgement by Pietro Cavallini, from around 1293, is preserved. It has a courtyard with a garden in front of the entrance.
